Ford : Other Pickups (flat Bed Dually 4?6 Single Cab) 1978 Ford Flatbed Single Cab Dually/4-wheel Drive Stick Shift ? $500.00 ? Lufkin, Texas
I purchased this vehicle almost 2 years ago with the intent of getting it into better shape and using it on a project I was working on. The project got shelved, and I no longer need the truck. I?d just as soon keep it, but no good will come from it sitting around. I don?t have time to mess with it anymore, and I won?t have the time for it any time in the near future. It barely ran when I bought it. I ran it some, but it never ran well. It could probably use an engine rebuild, but I don?t know for sure. I put a new battery on it when I bought it. That?s all I have done to it besides drive it around on my land a little. Mileage is not applicable. I have no way of knowing whether the odometer has rolled over or not. The odometer has likely rolled over atleast once (100,000+ miles). I won?t mince words here. This truck is in rough condition. It needs quite a bit of work, but it could be a great work truck. WHAT I KNOW: It needs a new master cylinder. It probably needs a brake job, but I haven?t gotten that far into it. The front passenger side hub is hard to lock. The wiring is in bad condition. If I were to keep it, I would get a wiring harness from a junk yard to replace most all of the wiring. The truck will have to be hauled away on a trailer. It has not ran in about a year. I could get it to crank and run up until about a year ago. Since then, I haven?t had time to mess with it. It did not run well when I did use it. The gas tank leaks if you put more than 12 or 15 gallons in it. The body is beat up (except for the bed). However, there are some redeeming qualities about this vehicle. Clear Texas title in my name and in my possession. The front end is tight. It steers like a dream. The interior is in fair condition for its age. There is some rust in the floor. The upholstery is better than I expected for a truck that old. There are some tears, but you don?t sink to the floor. The doors open and shut like they are new. The rubber gaskets are toast, but I was impressed by how well the doors open and close. The tires are old and sun damaged, but they hold air. I have never had to add air to any of the tires since I got it. The 4-wheel-drive works (except for the hub that won?t lock), and I have driven it around my place in 2WD as well as 4WD. This truck spent it?s life up until the point that I got it in West TX. It was used as a farm truck for the previous 12 years. It was not registered nor inspected since 1999. It has sat around my place too long and not been used. I have no delusions about this item. I am losing money here- a lot of money, but I am satisfied to let it go to somebody who can use it rather than let it sit out and go to nothing. It has not run in about a year. It will have to be towed away on a trailer. It can not be driven in it?s current condition. I?ve done the best I can here to accurately describe this truck. I have no intention of ripping anybody off over an old truck. Upon request, I can provide more pics. I make no warranties expressed nor implied. This item is sold as is where is. Your bid is a binding contract. Do not bid unless you intend to purchase and obtain this vehicle in a timely manner. Winner must arrange to have this item moved on their own accord. Item must be picked up within 30 days of auction end. Thank you for looking!
