New York ? Apple rolls out the beta version of its new cloud-based music service ? and delights fans with how easy it is to access iTunes on the go

The surprises?just keep coming from Apple. On Monday, the company released the beta version of iTunes Match, a cloud-based music service that allows subscribers to sync their entire iTunes music libraries to iCloud for $24.99 a year. Users will be able to access their music from iPhones, iPads, and up to eight other devices. The shocker, however, is that iTunes Match will also support streaming.... sort of. Details remain vague about how exactly Match works, and an Apple spokesperson takes issue with the word "streaming." But, as Eric Slivka at Mac Rumors says, Apple's complaint is semantic ? iTunes Match essentially does stream music. How revolutionary is this?

Portable music listening will never be the same: This will be a welcome money-saver for iPhone-owning music lovers, says Jared Newman at TIME. Music gobbles up most of their iPhones' storage space, making streaming from the cloud a godsend. "Instead of getting a phone with more storage at a cost of $100, users can spend $25 per year on iTunes Match instead."

This puts Apple on top for good: "There's now little question that iTunes in the cloud is superior," says MG Siegler at Tech Crunch. Streaming gives Match the advantage over cloud services from Google and Amazon. Plus those services lack the added bonus of having iTunes attached for more music purchasing. Offering both cloud downloading and cloud streaming, iTunes Match "overdelivers" on its already stellar promise.

Wait. Are we celebrating theft??"It's kind of shocking that record companies agreed to this," says Jason O. Gilbert at The Huffington Post. After all, iTunes Match essentially encourages illegal downloading. This cloud service provides a loophole that would allow users to illegally download a song, search for it on iTunes using iTunes Match, and then listen to the legal version of the song anywhere using the iCloud. HAMILTON, Bermuda?? Tropical Storm Jose spun over the open Atlantic just to the west of Bermuda on Sunday, buffeting the wealthy British territory with gusty winds and intermittent showers.

The 10th named storm of the season was passing about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northwest of Bermuda and packing winds of nearly 45 mph (75 kph), causing some storm surge in western parts of the isolated island chain. There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

"The tropical storm-force winds are limited to our western marine area. They aren't actually reaching the island," meteorologist Ken Smith of the Bermuda Weather Service said.

Intermittent showers mixed with sunshine in Bermuda, which lies about 580 miles (933 kilometers) east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, already battered by Hurricane Irene. Many islanders headed to church in their Sunday best.

A street market popular with tourists was canceled on St. George's, but most Sunday events went on normally.

Jose, which formed early Sunday, could bring as much as 3 inches (8 centimeters) of rain to Bermuda, but there were no sustained downpours reported in the territory.

Jose was moving north at about 17 mph (28 kph), said the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.

U.S. meteorologist Jeff Masters, who writes a popular weather blog, said Tropical Storm Jose will not survive long due to strong upper-level wind shear from Irene, which was swirling northward over New England toward Canada on Sunday after weakening to a tropical storm from a once-powerful hurricane.

Smith said Jose was expected to weaken into a tropical depression Monday and later dissipate.

Earlier this month, Tropical Storm Gert skirted past Bermuda, kicking up choppy seas along the island chain's coast but passing well east of the tiny British archipelago. It caused no serious damage.

PORTLAND, Maine ? A new public opinion survey shows increasing worries among Mainers about the cost and availability of health care coverage.

Market Decisions of Portland said the survey was conducted July 13-30. Twenty-six percent of those responding reported they or someone in their family had problems paying for medical bills during the past 12 months. That?s up from 22 percent a year earlier.

Twenty-one percent said they were concerned about losing health insurance in the next 12 months, up from 18 percent last year. While 12 percent said they did not get needed medical care from a doctor, or surgery, it was down from 22 percent last year.

Market Decisions surveyed 400 Maine residents 18 years of age and older. The survey has a margin of error of 5 percentage points.

It has long been known that hereditary factors play a role in coronary heart disease. However, it has been unclear whether the increased risk is transferred through the genes or through an unhealthy lifestyle in the family. A new study from the Center for Primary Health Care Research in Sweden, published in the American Heart Journal, shows that genes appear to be most important.

The researchers, led by Professor Kristina Sundquist, studied people who had been adopted and compared them with both their biological and their adoptive parents. The Swedish multi-generation register and the in-patient care register were used to follow 80 214 adopted men and women. They were all born in 1932 or later and developed coronary heart disease between 1973 and 2008. Using the registers, the researchers also studied the adoptive parents and biological parents over the same period.

The risk of coronary heart disease in adopted individuals who had at least one biological parent with coronary heart disease was 40-60% higher than that of a control group. There was no increased risk in individuals whose adoptive parents suffered from coronary heart disease, not even if both adoptive parents had the disease.

"The results of our studies suggest that the risk of coronary heart disease is not transferred via an unhealthy lifestyle in the family, but rather via the genes," says Kristina Sundquist, a professor at the Center for Primary Health Care Research in Malm?, Sweden.

"But that does not mean that one's lifestyle is not a factor in one's own risk of developing coronary heart disease."

TOKYO ? Japan's ruling party elected Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda its new chief Monday, paving the way for him to be the next prime minister and inherit the daunting task of recovering from the huge tsunami and nuclear crisis.

Noda, 54, is known as a fiscal conservative and has lately been battling a sluggish economy, bulging national debt and the yen's record surge, which hurts Japan's exporters by making their products more expensive overseas.

As prime minister ? Japan's sixth in five years ? he will have to broaden his scope to deal with the continuing reconstruction from the March 11 quake and tsunami along the northeastern coast and the 100,000 people who remain dislocated because of radiation leaking from a tsunami-damaged nuclear plant.

"Let us sweat together for the sake of the people," he said after the vote. "This is my heartfelt wish."

Noda will replace Prime Minister Naoto Kan, who announced Friday that he is resigning after nearly 15 months in office plagued by public discontent over political infighting and his administration's handling of the disasters.

Noda defeated Trade Minister Banri Kaieda ? who was backed by an influential behind-the-scenes party kingpin ? in a run-off election 215-177 among ruling party members of parliament after none of the initial five candidates won a majority in the first round. Noda will go on to become prime minister because the Democrats control the more powerful lower house of parliament. His Cabinet will likely be installed later this week.

After the vote, Noda said the three most pressing challenges facing the nations are recovering from the tsunami, bringing to a close the nuclear crisis and dealing with the strengthening of the yen and the deflationary pressure it has put on Japan's economy.

Noda came from behind to win the run-off, getting 102 votes in the first round to Kaieda's 143. The result could be seen as a slap against Ichizo Ozawa, a scandal-tainted party powerbroker who threw his support behind Kaieda.

Ozawa, a 69-year-old veteran who heads the largest faction in the ruling Democratic party, is known for engineering elections, sending novices to parliament and dooming some candidates to defeat. He is embroiled in a political funding scandal but his presence has hung like a shadow over the party leadership campaign.

Ozawa's dislike of Kan was one reason Kan never fully got his party's backing while in power.

After the vote, Noda called for party unity, using a popular rugby term in Japan referring to the tradition that after a game ends, there are no longer opposing sides on the field.

Noda is a staunch supporter of the Japan-U.S. security alliance, which he has called "essential for Japan's security and prosperity." And while praising China's economic development, he has cited concerns about their growing military strength.

Noda is not from an elite background like many Japanese politicians. His father was a member of the Self-Defense Force, Japan's military. He began honing his political skills at a postgraduate institute designed to groom a new generation of progressive leaders.

Before he took on a ministerial post, he was known for standing at train stations in his district in Chiba, just east of Tokyo, every morning to greet commuters personally.

As finance minister since June 2010, Noda has been contending with budgets and a strong yen, which hit a post-World War II high against the dollar earlier this month.

Noda was the most outspoken among the candidates about the need to raise the 5 percent consumption tax to reduce the public deficit, which is twice the country's gross domestic product, but toned down his tax talk ahead of the election. No quick change is expected on taxes, which would need parliamentary approval.

Many Japanese say taxes eventually need to be raised because of costs of disaster recovery and social welfare for an increasingly aging society.

Noda must also deal with a divided parliament, which has increased gridlock, after the opposition won control of the upper house last summer.

Japan has been plagued by rapid turnover in political leadership that has undermined its ability to tackle serious problems. The past five prime ministers lasted about a year each; Kan lasted the longest at nearly 15 months.

Noda is the third Democratic leader since the party surged to a landslide victory two years ago, dumping the long-ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party, amid widespread hope for change. Those hopes have been largely dashed amid public disappointment over scandals and a perceived lack of decisive leadership.

REITs, which are companies that own, operate and sometimes finance real estate projects, reported a total equity market capitalization of $461 billion as of July 31, according to the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. the administration would be overlooking a significant revenue source that could be used to offset lower corporate rates if it ignores these firms in shifting tax-status rules, said Henrietta Treyz, a vice president at Height Analytics, a Washington, D.C., research firm. ?If you carve out REITs, how much money is Treasury really raising?? she said. ?If you carve out this revenue-raising proposal, what are you left with?? Obama is expected to propose revisions to the U.S. tax code as early as September. Sandra Salstrom, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Treasury Department, declined to comment on what might be included in the plan, including whether it would affect REITs. One of the main questions about Obama?s tax proposal and those being developed in Congress involves the treatment of so-called pass-through companies. these are firms structured as partnerships or S corporations that accounted for almost one-third of all income reported on individual returns in 2009, according to the Tax Policy Center, a Washington-based nonpartisan research organization. the profits pass through to individual tax returns, allowing owners to avoid paying the corporate income tax, regardless of the firm?s size. though REITs and pass-through entities don?t have to pay most corporate taxes, they are structured in ways that impose different requirements on their owners. Treyz estimates that it will cost the Treasury $125 billion per percentage point over 10 years to lower the corporate tax rate from its current 35-percent maximum. Pass-through entities are a place to look for money to help cover the forgone revenue. ?This is all about the concept of broadening the base,? she said. ?that doesn?t just mean people making less than $8,000 a year paying taxes now. that means getting more companies to pay into the corporate tax.? Tony Edwards, the senior vice president and general counsel of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, said his industry has some fundamental differences from pass-through entities. While pass-throughs may retain some income, REITs are required by law to distribute at least 90 percent of their taxable income to shareholders each year. Any remaining income is taxed at the corporate rate, so most REITs return 100 percent of taxable income to shareholders. that creates market pressure, he said. ?since REITs must distribute virtually all of their taxable income, they need to periodically go back to the market to raise more capital,? Edwards said. ?If they have not been good stewards on behalf of their shareholders, it becomes difficult to raise more money.? though REITs don?t pay a corporate tax, their shareholders can?t take advantage of the 15-percent tax rate for dividends that Congress passed in 2003. REIT dividends are treated as ordinary income. ?REIT dividends are already disadvantaged versus C corporations with respect to taxes,? said Jim Sullivan, the managing director of REIT research at Greenstreet Advisors, a research firm in Newport Beach, Calif. Sullivan said the REIT industry?s current tax structure is central to its business model. ?It?s extremely important in the sense that the REIT industry was built upon a promise that in return for no corporate income tax, REITs would have to give out most of their income to their owners,? he said. ?It?s easy to see how changes would hurt them.? Edwards said Congress and the administration should revise the tax treatment of REITs only if they also shift the tax status of mutual funds, where income is also exempt from tax. ?Congress has patterned REITs on mutual funds, so any imposition of a corporate level tax on mutual funds would raise a similar tax policy issue with respect to REITs,? he said. Martin a. Sullivan, a former Treasury Department tax economist, said political disagreements over broader questions associated with tax policy will likely protect REITs from being required to pay corporate taxes. ?First, there?s the general problem of raising any taxes that we?ve seen,? said Sullivan, who is now a contributing editor at Tax Analysts, a nonprofit organization in Falls Church, Virginia. ?then there?s the more specific but equally thorny problem of raising taxes on pass-throughs, which will be nuclear. I am 21 years old but need to get checked every 6 months for breast cancer via ultrasound. My left breast is unusually full of benign cysts. What I am wondering is if breasts that have a predisposition to cysts will run a high risk of turning malignant. Feel free to include any stories.

It sounds like you have mammary displasia. You have benign cysts. They do not increase your risk of getting breast cancer. They do however, scare you, because you have no idea whether they are cancer or not. What I did, because I had this problem at your age, is I got a baseline mammogram done at 20 yrs old. I was checked yearly, Now that i am over 50 and cancer free is ever year I see a breast specialist who does a breast self exam and 6 months later I get a mammogram yearly, that way I am checked every 6 months. I had one big scare and a biopsy but it was clean.
I believe you will be okay. Find good doctors and a good mammogram place, preferably a hospital and get checked regularly. I know it is a bother, but if you are checked regularly and if anything abnormal is found they will find it early, and early diagnosis can be a 98% cure.
I stopped doing self exams because I kept finding new lumps and getting sent for needless mammograms. My doctors let me do this since I was being checked regularly. This is not a good thing to do though, so I hope you will be brave and do them monthly. I also was to scared to ever take the pill, as the pill may lead to increased risk of cancer, instead i used iud?s and other things.

SINGAPORE (AP) ? Oil prices hovered above $85 a barrel Wednesday in Asia after a U.S. supply report gave mixed signs about demand for crude.

Benchmark oil for October delivery was up 4 cents to $85.48 at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Crude rose $1.02 to finish at $85.44 on Tuesday.

In London, Brent crude for October delivery was up 19 cents to $109.50 on the ICE Futures exchange.

The American Petroleum Institute said late Tuesday that crude inventories fell 3.3 million barrels last week while analysts surveyed by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos., had predicted an increase of 2.0 million barrels.

However, inventories of gasoline jumped 6.4 million barrels last week while distillates rose 2.0 million barrels, the API said.

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration reports its weekly supply data later Wednesday.

Investors are closely watching economic and oil data for evidence about the strength of U.S. crude demand. Prices have fallen from near $115 in May amid growing speculation that the U.S. economy could contract soon.

"The market has gone through a shift with the emergence of talk of double dip recession," BNP Paribas said in a report.

The bank said it lowered its average crude price forecast ? to $92 for the third quarter and $98 in the fourth ? but still expects prices to rise from current levels because of expected U.S. dollar weakness and low interest rates.

Traders are also eyeing ongoing fighting in Libya's capital Tripoli between rebels and supporters of Moammar Gadhafi. Rebels stormed Gadhafi's compound Tuesday, but the leader and his sons were still at large.

Fighting since February has cut the OPEC nation's crude output to 60,000 barrels a day from 1.5 million, and analysts expect the overthrow of Gadhafi's 42-year regime would allow oil production to return gradually to pre-war levels.

In other Nymex trading for October contracts, heating oil rose 0.8 cent to $2.98 per gallon and gasoline futures added 0.4 cent to $2.75 per gallon. Natural gas for September delivery fell 1.0 cent to $3.98 per 1,000 cubic feet.
