King raises nearly $450000 in first quarter, names Centers ...

(EARLY, IA) ? Iowa Congressman Steve King (R-Kiron) today announced that during January-March 2012 he had the best fundraising quarter in his campaign?s history. Congressman King raised nearly $450,000 and ended the first quarter with over $800,000 cash on hand.

?Our campaign?s momentum continues to build,? said King. ?This past week I traveled to 23 Iowa communities and the message the town hall crowds conveyed to me was clear. Iowans are tired of government overreach and burdensome regulations. I will continue to be their voice in Washington against big government and massive debt.?

In addition, Congressman King today announced the hire of Jimmy Centers to serve as the communications director for his re-election campaign in Iowa?s 4th Congressional District. Centers joins Campaign Chairman Jeff King and Campaign Manager Jake Ketzner on the King Campaign.
?I am pleased to announce the hire of Jimmy Centers as the campaign?s communications director,? said King. ?Jimmy?s experience with Iowa?s media, including leveraging social media to connect with constituencies, will allow our campaign to continue to spread our message effectively throughout the 4th district.?

Centers worked as a field director in Northeast Iowa for Gov. Terry Branstad?s successful gubernatorial campaign. He has served as Deputy Communications Director for the Branstad-Reynolds administration since January of 2011.

?There is no better person to represent the 4th district than Congressman King,? said Centers. ?The citizens of the 4th district are hard working, loyal and true to their word. Congressman King embodies those values and is committed to taking their concerns to Washington. I look forward to taking the campaign?s message to Iowans across the district in the coming weeks and months.?

Congressman Steve King is running for re-election in Iowa?s new 4th Congressional District. He has served in Congress since 2002 and is a member of the U.S. House Agriculture, Judiciary, and Small Business Committees. He was born in and is a lifelong resident of the new 4th District, founded King Construction, raised a family, and served in the Iowa Senate for six years.
