Liberia seals Ivory Coast border after UN attacked

(AP) ? Liberia's government says it has sealed its border with Ivory Coast following an ambush in the area that left seven United Nations peacekeepers dead.

The move late Saturday came in the wake of suspicions that gunmen using Liberia as a base to stage cross-border attacks were involved in Friday's incident, which also left at least eight civilians dead.

Liberia's Information Minister Lewis Brown said President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has ordered the immediate deployment of Liberian armed forces to the border.

Human Rights Watch says gunmen have crossed into Ivory Coast several times over the last year to launch a series of attacks that have left at least 40 dead.
