Article by Scott Challen

Like many other parts in your house, roofs are not exempted on the effects of the elements. There comes a time that you have to change it to avoid more problems that it will cause in the future. Roofing is a very hard work. One of the things you should do is to tear off the old ones to replace it with the new one. You are also required to look for nails on the roof and make sure you get it out to avoid someone being hurt. If this is the first time you encounter this problem, then this is the best article for you. Here some guidelines on how to put a new roof on your home. The first phase in installing a new roof for your house is to take away the old ones to give way to the newly bought roofs. All you have to do is to use a pitchfork, roofing nail removers, pry bars and shovels. These are the equipments you need when removing an old roof. You start removing at the corner shingle and then proceed to the other and to the next until all shingles are gone. It is recommended to remove in large chunks to save time. After you are done with removing all the shingles precede to the roofing shovels and pitch fork. Tear the remaining shingles and nails on the roof. Make it clean from any debris for the new roof and dispose your waste properly. You can use nail magnets to collect stray nails. All the waste on the roof can easily be disposed by piling it and then put in a trailer to be loaded in the dump track. The next phase is installing the roofing paper. Black 30 weight paper is being used as a roofing paper. Roll it over and let it hang for a ? inch. You can make the roofing paper stable by using some tacks. Put tacks to key areas that will make the roofing paper stable. Make the first row of the roofing paper and overlapped the second one. Then mark the lines and secure the second paper. Continue putting roofing paper until the entire roof is covered. When you come across the crest put a one or more roofing paper on it and let the other side hang evenly. At the roof hip just overlapped it the same you should do with the valley. Make the roofing paper water proof in preparation of the installation of the shingles by herringbone it. With all these being followed, it is now time to install all the shingles; you should cover all and use the same technique as you have installed the roofing paper. With the use of herringbone technique there is no doubt that it will produce a good result. To cap off the roof single shingle tabs and try to overlap them along the crest, hips and valleys. When you are finished with all of this, then you are done roofing. Enjoy your new roof!
