Wow, I feel for your kids. They have been through so much. It must be really difficult for them to see their bio parents so vulnerable.

Considering their age, I would really just try to be supportive. I am very laxed in my parenting style, but at 16 your son should be pretty independent. I really would try to be supportive and I don't think right now is the time to enforce boundries.

Even though you may be upset about what the bioparents are doing, I really challange you to look at this from your kids point of view.

If my kids wanted to spend Christmas at the hospital with their birthmom, I would help them buy her a gift and make sure to fit that visit into the day. I would not fight it, I would show your son that (since he is older) that you are there to support him not to go against his wishes. Your kids may really need to be with her after such a horrible accident.

I will say a prayer for your family.
