Restaurant boat sinks in Baghdad; at least 8 dead

BAGHDAD (AP) ? Iraqi officials say a crowded restaurant boat carrying dozens of guests has sunk in the Tigris river in central Baghdad, leaving at least eight people dead.

The boat, part of a Lebanese restaurant establishment in the Iraqi capital, sank late Thursday evening.

Police and hospital officials say eight bodies have been pulled from the river.

They say about 30 people were rescued and the whereabouts of nine people were unknown.

Police say there is no indication that a terrorist act was to blame.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release details to the media.
