Marketing & Communications Senior Research Analyst Job ...

Edelmans research subsidiary, StrategyOne, seeks a Marketing & Communications Senior Research Analyst.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The senior research analyst should have a Bachelors Degree in liberal arts, business, or economics with a minimum of 5+ years of analyst experience in competitive intelligence, business intelligence, market research, marketing or consulting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience in social media and/or web analytics required
- Advanced degree in business, economics, finance or related area of study preferred (e.g. MBA, MS)
- 5+ years analyst experience within a competitive intelligence, business intelligence, or knowledge management unit required
- Experience working with Fortune 1000 companies on both quantitative and qualitative business analysis projects
- Practical knowledge and expertise in strategic, economic, and financial analysis frameworks and models required
- Expertise in utilizing Internet and advanced researching skills to gather information from public and private databases and news services
- Proven ability to formulate practical solutions to loosely-defined business problems/objectives
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently
- Proven ability to synthesize data into highly relevant business insights and forward-looking strategies
- Strong team leadership abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with primary research methods, including (but not limited to) survey research, ethnographic research
- Familiarity with basic statistical methods and techniques, including proper formulation of regression models, interpretation of regression analysis results
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Visio
- Familiarity with SQL Server, T-SQL preferred
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software packages preferred
- Familiarity with basic computational linguistics and natural language processing concepts and methods preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborate with client managers and product development specialists to formulate research-centric solutions for internal/external client initiatives
- Review and make necessary adjustments to all formal project scope specifications and associated work estimates and schedules
- Assist project teams in developing knowledge about key players, markets, and technologies of the industries in which client companies compete
- Ensure project teams understand how client companies (and their respective competitors) achieve customer satisfaction, market share, and profitability
- Lead project teams through discussions in which key topics and issues relevant to client industries are identified and analyzed
- Provide leadership in understanding complex and varied information; help project teams synthesize that information into simple market/industry insights
- Mentor project teams in proper utilization of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks/models, including (but not limited to) SWOT analysis, Porters Five Forces, Competing Hypotheses, Win-Loss Analysis, Scenario Planning
- Lead project teams in forecasting expected behavior of client competitors based on information available in the public domain as well as an understanding of leadership styles of competitors key executives
- Anticipate likely actions of client competitors based on analysis of publicly available financial information
- Lead project teams in identifying patterns in client competitor behavior from disparate actions and developing theories on future actions through pattern extrapolation
- Ensure all analyses and derived insights/strategic recommendations directly address documented client business objectives
- Review and make necessary adjustments to all internal/external client deliverables prior to submission to account managers during the course of each project lifecycle
- Collaborate with Vice President of Global Analytics to develop professional development plans for all analysts
- Collaborate with Vice President of Global Analytics to formally evaluate performance of analysts working on projects teams
- Collaborate with Vice President of Global Analytics to curate all primary, secondary, and internal data accumulated through execution of core business operations
- Develop and maintain expertise in a specific market/industry considered highly relevant to strategic objectives of StrategyOne
o Actively monitor current trends and competitive landscape of specific market/industry
o Utilize current and appropriate forecasting methods to develop geographic and product market/industry forecasts
o Author and disseminate internal monthly briefs communicating key information gathered on specific market/industry
o Deliver internal consulting where expertise of specific market/industry is required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The senior account executive must have at least two years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.
