A Wheeling resident is getting her own parade on Saturday.

Haley Reinhart is one of the top 3 finalists on this season?s American Idol. As a result, she will visit her hometown of Wheeling on Saturday, May 14 for a huge event.
The Wheeling hometown celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday with a motorcade to the Wheeling Village Hall, where Wheeling Village President Judy Abruscato will declare May 14 as ?Haley Reinhart Day.?
The motorcade will then travel south on Northgate Parkway to Dundee Road, then east to the Wheeling Community Campus.
The visit will then continue at Arlington Park Racetrack, 2200 W. Euclid, Arlington Heights, where Haley will perform at 6:30 p.m. There are some free tickets available online. For ticket information, visit arlingtonpark.com.

*Get some goodies and help fight childhood hunger in our state. The second annual food blogger bake sale is a national effort that encourages bloggers across the country to hold bake sales in their communities to raise funds for Share Our Strength as part of the Great American Bake Sale.
Chicago?s event this Saturday will offer homemade baked goods, treats donated from local businesses, wine tastings and more. All proceeds will be donated to help eliminate childhood hunger in Illinois.

*President Obama has called for the cleaning of the Chicago River (that story to come), and Friends of the Chicago River are doing their part this weekend. Saturday is Chicago River Day, when 4,000 volunteers will clean up and spruce up the banks along the river. Some will also plant native seedlings. Participants will learn how to conserve water, help stop flooding and prevent pollutants from running into the river.
