Four Effective Natural Remedies for Spring Allergies

Honey. If you consume local honey produced by bees living in your area, the nectar actually contains pollen grains from the flowers and plants in your area. If you eat about one spoonful of this local honey every month, it could help your body to produce a natural resistance to the allergens. Do not give honey to children under one year old.

Steam with essential oils. Inhaling steam is soothing for some, but you can make breathing easier if you combine the steam with some essential oils. Boil water in a saucepan, take it off the heat, and add four drops of eucalyptus oil, one drop of tea tree oil, and three drops of rosemary essential oil. This isn?t a long-lasting relief, but it does work immediately.

Neti pots. These are great for clearing clogged nasal passages. Neti pots utilize sterile saline solutions at room temperature as a way to comfortably flush out one?s nasal canal. Tilt your head so that your forehead and chin are horizontal, put the mouth of the neti pot to your higher nostril and create a seal, then tip it until the saline solution runs through and out the other nostril. All of the junk and mucus clogging your sinuses will flow out with it.

Stinging nettle weed tea. The stinging nettle weed is painful to the touch, as it contains an acid on its leaves that burn the skin. However, in tea form, the stinging nettle weed releases medicinal oils that can help fight spring allergies. Steep the tea between ten and fifteen minutes in order to get the most out of the oils and their antihistamine effect.
